San Diego Renaissance Faire 2001
In April 2001, we received an invitation to participate in the
San Diego Renaissance Faire. Having just completed our sixth year at the Arizona
Renaissance Festival, we were excited by the prospect of travelling to California
for another faire (albeit a much shorter one) come September.
The trip was fantastic. Nine people and eleven hounds from Phoenix
joined with two people and one hound from Los Angeles for a wonderful weekend.
The weather was perfect and Balboa Park provided a marvelous setting for the
two-day event.
We presented two half-hour stage shows each day, covering the
history of Greyhounds and what marvelous pets they make, followed by a question
and answer session with the audience. Some of our hounds got to escort the Queen
on her processions through the shire, participated in the Royal Quest, and we
even had time to get in some shopping. Click here
to see photos of the fun we had.
In addition to doing our normal promoting of Greyhound adoption,
we had a wonderful opportunity to assist the falconers of Falcons'
Court with their shows at the faire. It was so truly unbelievable that we
had to post the pictures
just to remind ourselves it wasn't a dream.
