Greyhound Planet Day 2003
The Greyhounds of Fairhaven and FastDogs-FastFriends
Greyhound Rescue and Adoption co-sponsored a picnic in the park at Roadrunner
Park in Phoenix for the 2nd Annual Greyhound Planet Day.
Greyhound Planet is a day chosen each year to honor the Greyhound
and its relatives (Galgos, lurchers, etc.) throughout the world. The purpose
of this international event is to raise the public's awareness of the wonder
and magic of Greyhounds as pets, educate others on the current status of Greyhounds
around the world and to honor those Greyhounds who have left us already. The
American-European Greyhound Alliance is serving as an information source for
individual groups around the world as they plan their Greyhound awareness events.
Despite the heat, we had quite a turn-out of Greyhounds and their
people. There were Greyhound Planet Day T-shirts and Celebrating Greyhound calendars
for sale, Greyhound Art done by school kids (inspired by our school-day presentations),
a raffle for some greyt greyhound prizes, and some greyt vendors, including
Greyhounds of Fairhaven sponsors Marsha's
Martingales, Etc. and Carpe
Canem.
