Arizona Renaissance Faire 2001
The Arizona Renaissance Faire is our signature event, and the 2001 season was a banner year for us. The fair saw great weather and excellent attendance, which allowed us to introduce our hounds to tens of thousands of patrons.
Claudia Presto of the Greyhound Gang joined us with her hound Winslow for a weekend as our guests, and had fun promoting greyhound adoption with a funny accent.
This event runs every weekend for eight weeks, which is a grueling schedule for those of us who participate every day. However, it is immensely rewarding to see thousands of people introduced to the wonder of greyhound adoption. There's no way to know how many greyhounds have been adopted by patrons who were introduced to the hounds at faire. However, we know they're out there, since many will stop by the following year to tell us about their own hounds.
Our members have been participating in this event since 1996. Our founder, Mik Wilkens, was the stalwart soul who proposed the event to the fair management, and she has been instrumental in its success in each of the successive years. Huzzah!
